Update.... 'cause I should do this from time to time.
Let's see, I haven't done an update since ... August last year. So around mid-January I managed to ( injure my finger )
Also in "news" Shannon and I have split up, and she has moved out back into her parent's house. Things are pretty amicable between us, and Shannon left at the house many things that she rightfully could have taken with her so that I would still have a "working" house (stuff like dishes, lawn mower, etc.)
In a more upbeat bit of news, I have new bodies in my house now! Say hellow to Serena and Roxxy! (click to see more pictures.) Current Mood: happy | | Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 | | 12:26 pm |

An update...
Okay ... so, I'm sitting here at work, waiting for two 300GB drives to format ... may as well do the update that peemonkey "tagged" me to do ^_^ Been busy lately with getting various things ready for the house that I purchased. Just signed the papers for the Mortgage last Friday - need to talk to the person there to update the terms & such, as my parents are giving me more money so that I'll have a full 20% down, and avoid any extra CMHC fees. Also need to send her a fax or a PDF scan of a void check for the account which will be setup to automatically pay the monthly payments for me. I really appreciate the fact that I can send in scans, and be able to do stuff online (such as specifying for them to take out more money on a given month if I have extra to pay down on the mortgage that month.) The only other thing I need to do before we can get the house is get some home insurance. I'm pretty sure I know who I'm going with -- found one or two other places that quote a lower price -- but then they say "plus applicable taxes" ... and I'm sure that on that amount, those taxes will completely undo the $10/yr or so that I'd be saving by going with them. After that, everything (gas, hydro, water, cable, etc.) else *can* wait until we move in, so if I don't get it all sorted out before we move in, it isn't going to be horrible. I'll be taking the first week of July and the first half of the next week off of work in order to do some work on the house. Other than that, Shannon and I have been doing well -- trying to get her more work than random unreliable temp-work stuff. We'll be going to see Weird Al in concert in July, so that'll be fun and we're both looking forward to that. And we'll both be going to peemonkey's wedding (I'll mail out the RSVP card soon, I promise! But we are coming ^_^), we just have to figure out how we're getting there & back, as it's a touch farther away from home than J&A's wedding was where I could just walk home afterwards ^_^ I've actually been working on driving, and am looking to take my test for my G2 soon ... need to figure out what is a good time for me to be able to use a car and then find a place to take it. Still playing D&D and Magic: the Gathering, but lately Shannon and I have also been playing board games with friends as well. We've been really enjoying Arkham Horror, a board game based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The other weekend we played a game of it with some friends and we actually managed to seal off enough gates that we won before the Old One/Ancient Thing awoke and we had to fight it. Other games we've been playing lately include Descent (Like Hero's Quest, but more involved), Order of the Stick (A Card-based Board Game, based on an online stick-figure webcomic, which is based on D&D ^_^), and some smaller & quicker games like Strange Synergy (get a random group of abilities & assigned them synergistically [is that a word?] to your team of supers, then everyone fights it out), SP.A.N.C (Space Pirate, Amazon, Ninja Catgirls) & Munchkin. ... So, I think I've been here for about 2 hours as these drives format ... they're about 60% done now. @_@; Hopefully this should be a good update for peemonkey & anyone else. ^_^ Current Music: The Smashing Pumpkins - X.Y.U. | | Monday, April 2nd, 2007 | | 9:25 am |
Update
I know I suck at doing any of these updates, but now I figure I've got something that might be of interest to others: ( I bought a house. ) Current Mood: excitedCurrent Music: The Smashing Pumpkins - Medellia Of The Gray Sky | | Thursday, January 25th, 2007 | | 10:34 am |
So, in response to my last post, kelayrel has dug up an email address for Mindy, as well as the home address for the Robinsons (to which she is sending flowers for anyone interested). If you want the email address, email kelayrel or myself. | | Wednesday, January 24th, 2007 | | 7:50 pm |

So, I found out today that Kristen Robinson, part of the Robinson mega-family that I know Mindy from, died recently in a car accident. Current Mood: sad | | Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 | | 3:08 pm |

I love Microsoft.
Yup, just love MS. Our company has decided to crack down on people using messenger services such as MSN, AIM, Yahoo, etc. So a co-worker just came to me stating that she was obeying the new policy ... or at least, she was attempting to, but MSN Messenger wasn't cooperating. She had gone to the control panel, add/remove programs, and then chosen to remove the MSN Messenger from there. And all was good. Until she rebooted the computer and MSN logged her in when she booted back up. Yeah, just wonderful. Thanks MS. Current Mood: amused | | Friday, December 2nd, 2005 | | 9:30 am |

Eeeeeeee!
Wow... haven't felt this giddy in a while. Not *exactly* sure why, but if I were to guess at a reason, I'd go with a combination of: alcohol (only 2 coolers), headache (combination of the alcohol & being in front of speakers used for LOUD karaoke), and having met someone new that I like. Probably a fair bit of the last one. ^_^ ( Details... ) Current Mood: excited | | Friday, September 16th, 2005 | | 2:04 pm |

This weekend.
So Friday night, there was *just* enough people to play the scheduled draft. And the 8th person didn't show up until about a half hour after it was supposed to start. ^_^;; Saturday night I was out playing D&D with friends, and around midnight we stopped that and broke out some board games. We ended up playing the game of Life. It was fun, hadn't played it for quite a long time. We were constantly referring to the rules, as nobody could really remember all of them ^_^ One person, Mark, had never played the game before. And, lucky for him, he managed to accomplish something I've never seen before. For those of you who don't know this, about 3-4 turns out from the start there is a square you can hit that says you were wrecked by a tornado, and go back to start. Mark managed to land on that square 3(!) times in a row before finally passing it. And to boot, he ended up winning! Sunday was mostly just relaxing, with a bit of helping to re-organize and clean up parts of the basement. Some going-ons lately.
Took a week vacation starting last Wednesday. Odd time to start a week's vacation, but the original plan was that a friend of mine was going to contact me about going gown to GenCon during the end of the week and weekend, so I took time off to accomodate that. He never got back to me, and it wasn't a large priority of mine, so instead I just stayed at home and tried to relax. Relaxing Wednesday was fine... however since Thursday I've had a rather sore back, which really doesn't help the goal of relaxing and enjoying myself. Friday I went out to play cards at the local hobby shop as normal, and I saw a new RPG book there: Rifts - the Ultimate Edition. I looked at it briefly: hard-cover, same size as the normal Rifts book, a quick browsing of it seemed to show that it had the same type of information in it too. The price however was significantly lower than I was expecting (it was $34 + tax, I was expecting $45-$55 + tax for a hardcover of that size) so I decided to pick it up to go over it and see if they fixed any of the problems we used to have with the system. Of the quick flipping through I've done with it since then, I've found that it does fix/clarify some of the things that were not too clear before, as well as gave some (what I think is) new guidelines for stuff like making Techno-Wizard items. But the layout, organization, and presentation of the book is horrendous. I've got to dig up my old Rifts book to see if it was like that before, or if I've just become spoiled by how good of a job WotC has done with the D&D core books. I also picked up the Super Munchkin game at the same time -- I've yet to play it, but I'm sure I can grab a couple friends to play it with little effort. ^_^ And strangely enough, after looking through the cards, this Munchkin game seems much more, uh, 'balanced' than the other Munchkin games (as hard as that may seem to believe). On Saturday I grabbed some pack-pain/muscle-relaxant meds and headed down to Hamilton with my brother and a friend of ours for a Magic tournament there. It was an odd format, Type 1 (so pretty much all cards are viable) but with the power banned (so no using any of the moxes, black lotus, etc.) A bunch of us from the Brampton area went down for a tournament of this format about a month ago, and 4/6 of us did well enough to make the cut to top 16, and then the four of us were all that was left when we got to the top 4. So when playing last time, I'd noticed something about the metagame, and had decided to bring a deck this time to try and take advantage of it (more-so than last time). Apparently I did a good job of metagaming for the tournament, as out of the 12 games I played I didn't lose a single game. When it finally got to the finals, I split with the other person for a couple reasons. I don't think either of us was anticipating playing the other, our decks were likely setup to be very annoying for each other and it would depend a LOT on our opening hands as to how well we each did. Plus, I know him from other tournaments, and he's a good guy so I have no problems with splitting the prizes with him. And, he offered a split that was significantly in my favor (we both got the same number of cards, but I came out with the greater value in cards than he did). Hopefully I might remember to update this more often -- and hopefully I'd have stuff happen that I find worthy of updating this for ^_^ Current Music: Full Metal Alchemist - Kesenai Tsumi [Unerasable Sin] | | Tuesday, June 7th, 2005 | | 11:23 pm |
Jury Duty...
So, a while ago I got a letter stating that I'd been selected as a possible candidate for jury duty. Woo, Yay. However, also with that letter, was a much less formal looking page that said the proposed trial I would be jury for would last from May 30th, to an estimated June 13th-17th. About 2 and a half to 3 weeks. Now, just recently at work, someone else was on a jury for a trial that was when someone was maimed (hacked at with machettes), and that had taken a week or so. So speculation was up quickly "What did they do in this trial? Must have killed someone." Getting to the point of this, I ended up being selected for jury duty, and for the 2 week + long trial. I plan to detail out things that I went through and noticed through the whole process in the next few posts, starting with this one. I figure it could be of interest to some people (as it is, I've already got a note set aside for theheathen -- but she'll have to wait for that note for a couple posts I think). Anyways, on to the info! ( Jury Selection Day ) Current Mood: thoughtful | | Tuesday, May 17th, 2005 | | 2:03 pm |
Update of a sorts.
So, yeah, I know I don't use this much... oh well. This last weekend, I went down to Hamilton with a couple friends for a Magic tournament. Unfortunately, I was up late friday night, and woke up 2 hours before my alarm went off and couldn't get back to sleep. So I'm going to travel a fair distance for a tournament, only to be rather tired during the later rounds... oh well. And I know I got tired after a few rounds too -- I don't remember most of the last bit of the tournament. Only parts that I do remember are the highlights of various matches (parts that were rather close, or far and away one sided). However, I do remember winning the tournament, and coming out with a card for first prize. Yes, just one card, but one that sells for $150+ US on ebay. So that made for a good weekend. Sunday involved sleeping and watching movies. ^_^ Recently, I've also been indulging myself in reliving part of my childhood. Not that I miss it or anything like that, but ( Transformers are still cool ) Current Mood: accomplishedCurrent Music: Black Mages - Those who Fight Further (FFVII) | | Monday, March 21st, 2005 | | 3:54 pm |
So, about a week ago, I went and picked up a bunch of Transformers DVDs. All of season 2 to season 4. And no, I don't have season 1, and they didn't have it at the store, otherwise I would've picked it up as well. I just recently finished watching Season 2 -- it's great to go back and remember various episodes, or various characters. It's also amusing to see the mistakes in the animation that I'm sure I never saw before ^_^ After watching all of season 2 (some 40+ espisodes), I went on to some of season 3. Apprently the Transformers movie is supposed to happen between seasons 2 and 3. Half the cast seemed to have disappeared to be replaced by new characters. Numerous characters gave me the impression of "Who the hell was that? I don't remember that character..." only until they transformed. Once they did, it was like a lightbulb went off in a corner of my mind to show that I did actually remember that character. It's really a fun experience. As well, I went and got my hair cut last week. It's always kind of fun to see how long it takes for people at home to notice. Especially if when I go and do something like shave at the same time. It took my parents until Sunday (got it cut Thursday night) before they noticed. Although, granted, they probably didn't see me much at all between the two times. And it's not like I was hiding in my room the whole time. Mostly it was that they were in their room (with their new 50 inch TV). So yeah, I got my hair cut short again. Nowhere near enough to pull it back into a pony tail anymore, although I do still put my hands back in an attempt to run my hands through it -- it just doesn't work the same anymore. ^_^; Current Mood: cheerfulCurrent Music: Savage Garden - Break Me Shake Me |
